Quick blade-code guide
- T-shank blades fit almost all modern jigsaws (tool-less change). U-shank is older.
- HCS = high-carbon steel, for wood & plastic. HSS = high-speed steel, for metal. BIM = bi-metal, flexible and durable. Diamond/carbide grit for tile.
- Fewer, bigger teeth (low TPI) = faster, rougher. More teeth (high TPI) = slower, cleaner.
- For splinter-free veneer cut with the good face down, or use a down-cut (reverse) blade.
