The Hitachi CJ 90VST electric jigsaw is manufactured by one of the companies that are part of the financial and industrial group of Japanese Hitachi LTD – Hitachi Koki Co., Ltd.
This Chinese model is equipped with a quite traditional body for Hitachi power tools, making it recognizable around the world, as well as convenient to use. Why? The fact that the durable black plastic body of the product has a bright green rubber insert. These eliminate the slip of the tool in the hand, making it comfortable and convenient to work with.
Main features of the Hitachi CJ 90VST jigsaw
- Well-matched individual parts of the body to each other. The only disadvantage in this regard is some plastic irregularities left by the stamping process.
- The working base of the tool is made of aluminum and has a stronger metal coating.
- Technological holes, recesses, grooves, flanges of the jigsaw are calculated and made qualitatively, thanks to this adjustment for angular cuts is carried out without additional effort.
- The Allen wrench that is used to change the angle of the jigsaw foot in oblique cuts is very securely fastened to the body of the tool. An ingenious engineering solution eliminates any chance of losing the wrench while working. On a special place in the metal base the wrench is securely fixed by a roller made of resilient black rubber.
- Installation and replacement of Hitachi CJ 90VST saw blade is done without additional tools. The spring-loaded lever makes it quick and easy. The mount has no backlash and therefore does not impair the quality of the cut.
- Not only oblique cuts, but also radial cuts can be made with this model. The minimum radius in which such a cut can be made depends on the width of the blade fitted. The one that comes with the tool (#41) allows making a circle with a diameter of 20 centimeters. If you need less – narrower blades will have to be used for sawing.
- Adjustment of the jigsaw for making a radial cut is done with a special mechanism called “orbital motion regulator”. It is located on the left side of the device and has four positions used depending on the specific working conditions.
- The model under consideration can make oblique cuts in the range of 45 degrees to both sides, and there are six positions (15 degrees each).
- The Hitachi CJ 90VST has a bright yellow wheel on the front upper part of the housing.
- The additional button on the housing, unlike many other tools, on this jigsaw is not intended to protect against unintentional activation. Its purpose is to lock the start button in the continuous duty position. It’s handy for large amounts of cuts, but there is a small amount of safety risk. You just have to be careful.
Is the Hitachi CJ 90VST handy to make cuts and how accurate are they? Structurally, this model has no drawbacks (backlashes, inconveniences at work) that would directly affect the quality.
When using the proper consumables (saw blades) – required for the material being sawed, the operator’s qualifications and the hardness of his hand will play a major role in the quality of the cut. The timely replacement of the blade with a new one is also important. It’s not very convenient to cut oil with a blunt knife either.
