Best jigsaws

Curated rankings by category, drawn from full specifications and our scoring of every model we track.

There is no single best jigsaw. The right saw for trimming skirting in a spare room is the wrong one for a joiner cutting birch ply all day. So we split our picks by the decision that actually matters to you — budget, corded versus cordless, and experience level — and rank within each group on cutting performance, control and value.

Pick a list below. Each ranking shows the models side by side with their power or battery voltage, stroke rate, cut depth in wood and steel, bevel range and weight, so you can see exactly why one sits above another.

What separates a good jigsaw from a poor one

Four things decide it. A motor with enough torque — roughly 500–700 W corded, or an 18 V brushless platform — so the blade doesn't bog down in thick stock. Orbital (pendulum) action with selectable stages for fast rough cuts or slow clean ones. A stable, lockable base for accurate 45° bevels. And low vibration with a tool-free blade change, because that is what you notice after the first hour. Price matters, but a cheap saw that wanders off the line costs more in wasted material.
