Let’s take a look at the basic rules for successful use of an electric jigsaw and learn how to make sure that our jigsaw lasts as long as possible.
- During the working process, it is important not to overdo the effort, otherwise, with a heavy load on the blade, the saw overheats and subsequently becomes unusable.
- Use a thick blade for a straight cut. Line accuracy increases significantly just by using this kind of blade, as the position of the jigsaw itself automatically becomes stable. Well, if you need to saw something shaped, then it is vice versa – the saw with a thin blade is the best choice.
- It is not recommended to make cuts with blunted blade – it is obvious that such sawing is unlikely to turn out even.
- When the engine is running at low speed, you should take short but frequent breaks. This is the only way to save the engine from unwanted overheating. In addition, if the saw blade in the working process interacts with materials such as polystyrene, stainless steel or Plexiglas, it is recommended to cool the engine with additional means. As such coolants you can choose a weak soap solution, car oils or even ordinary water. At the same time do not forget about regular lubrication of the internal parts of the jigsaw.
- If you notice changes in the tool that do not conform to the process standards, and yet the jigsaw continues to function, its graphite brushes are probably just a little worn out. Try replacing them with new ones, it’s not difficult, especially since no one’s help is needed here.
- The electric jigsaw, like any other household appliance, requires proper handling and basic care. The jigsaw should be cleaned in a timely manner from accumulated dust inside, especially if working with it often takes place in dusty rooms, and avoid excessive moisture.
- If the wire of the tool has been accidentally damaged and mechanical damage is too noticeable, it is better to do without risk – immediately replace the power cord with a new one, because a display of carelessness can be costly.
- Apply high-speed cutting from 16 strokes per second to plastic materials.
- When cutting a thin sheet of metal, put plywood underneath for more safety.
- Remember that for cutting different materials there are also different degrees of swing of the pendulum stroke, if of course your electric jigsaw has an appropriate regulator. In this case, for hard wood it is best to choose the mode with the lowest amplitude, while soft wood is better to saw in the mode with a high value. For sawing various figures from metal sheets and finishing materials, where, of course, it is necessary to be careful: so that part of the figure did not break off or the material did not give a crack, use the mode of sawing without swinging.
Lastly, to make the tool work properly at all times, apart from the previous points, do not forget about the instruction manual provided by the manufacturer. It usually comes with the electric jigsaw. Safety precautions when working with tools like this are of the utmost importance!
