Why is it convenient to use an electric jigsaw when laying tiles?
There are many tools for cutting ceramic tiles, among them are a tile cutter, a jigsaw, and a cutter. But if you are not a professional tile installer and you have an electric jigsaw, it is much more advantageous to just buy special saws (saw blades) designed for tile work, rather than spending on an expensive tool. If you need to get a straight or curved cut, then jigsaw with a special tile saw will perfectly cope with this task. Tip: it is better to wet the place of the cut – this will significantly reduce the amount of excessive dust and chips, especially on glazed tiles.
For work with tiles are designed abrasive saws, they allow not only to cut the tile into pieces, but also to make inside the material shaped cutouts, such as under the socket or switch, which can not be done so easily with other tools. It is worth noting that these saws cut well only wall tiles.
You can use this saw blade and for thick floor tiles or tile, but it is more expensive – the saw blade will deteriorate very quickly, and it is not cheap nowadays! For such purposes it is better to use a tile cutter or a grinder with a diamond disk.
You can also get a curved cut by using a special tile saw or a diamond wire inserted in a hand jigsaw. Of course, the process of sawing tiles with a hand jigsaw is very long, so this method is better suited for those cases where the cutting line is very curved and other methods are simply not suitable.
