Jigsaw with your own hands

For jewelry work, an appropriate tool is necessary. This fact is well confirmed by the example of the jewelry jigsaw, with which you can cut almost anything and do it with great accuracy.

And all thanks to the fact that such a tool, unlike a conventional jigsaw, allows you to pull its cutting part – the saw blade – very hard.

Types of jeweler’s jigsaws

Although there are two types of jeweler’s jigsaws (with one tensioning point and with two), let’s consider the second option – jeweler’s jigsaw with two points of saw tension and the possibility of making it with your own hands.

Its design, firmly pulling the saw blade, does not let it “wiggle” during work, so you get a very accurate cut. Such a tool can be useful not only to narrow specialists, but also to the home craftsman.

Sequence of work to create a jewelry jigsaw with their own hands

  1. As can be seen from the figure, the first of the tensioning nodes (saw blade attachment points) is the same as in a jigsaw with a single tensioning.
  2. The jigsaw handle has an uncomplicated design. You need to drill a hole in one axis, and then slip the other into it at an angle of 90 degrees. After that, rivet the joint.
  3. To the same axis attach an ear of metal with a soldered nut. It will be needed in order to tuck the saw, clamp it with the bolt.
  4. As for the second tensioning assembly. A metal ear with a soldered nut will be attached to the trimmed bolt with a rivet. It will be necessary to use an elongated nut or a metal tube. In it (nut or tube) you need to drill out or somehow grind the threads. This is necessary so that a bolt of the right diameter can fit freely in it. In addition, inside the nut there must be a groove for fixing the saw blade, which must not rotate during operation or tensioning.

In the absence of welding, all connections can be made by rivets, soldering them afterwards with solder. It turns out quite reliable and neat.
